HELO From IPANEMA

HELO From IPANEMA is the girl who walked to Ipanema Beach in
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and inspired Antonio Carlos Jobim to compose the world-famous song "GIRL FROM IPANEMA".

Phil met Helo while touring in Brazil with The Freddy Cole Trio, and stayed in contact with her. Phil subsequently co-wrote this new song "Helo from Ipanema" for her with Keith Williams.

The tune follows some of the original chord progressions of "Girl from Ipanema" but also employs lots of new chord progressions.

Vocalist Maria Howell sings in English and
Laura Coyle sings in Portuguese.
Barry Greene is on Guitar and Phil Morrison is playing Bass...

HELO From IPANEMA
words by Phil Morrison
Music by Keith Williams & Phil Morrison

This song I sing for Helo
And to see her it would be as a dream
She'd walk to the beach at Ipanema
Down in Rio - where life is love supreme

A cool breeze comes in from the ocean
So gently it blows to her hair
Her body is graceful in motion
Free as a bird that flies
Up in the sky without care

Vinicius wrote words for Helo
Tom Jobim gave those words a melody

The sun shines on Corcovado
It stands high majestically
Below was Helo Pinheiro
The tall tan girl
Who walked to the sea

Now when you go to Ipanema
You'll remember that song's famous girl
The sound of bossa nova
This song heard 'round the world
This song's famous girl
