The compositions of an amazing vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, PAUL BROWN, are paired with the lyrics of Phil Morrison to create a beautiful mix of R&B-oriented songs that feature Paul on vocals and instruments. Phil is proud to be associated with such a talented person who has carried those talents internationally!
Many have compared Paul Brown with the likes of Donny Hathaway or Stevie Wonder, who, like Paul, is obviously an outstanding vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Whether it’s the groove of the dance tunes or the romanticism of the ballads, you’ll be in for some pleasurable listening!
WE THANK YOU ...ALL OUR VETERANS A tribute to all our military veterans!
lyrics....Phil Morrison music...Keith Williams This performance with the University of North Florida Jazz band is the first time this song was performed ...either with the band or in public.
WE THANK YOU ALL OUR VETERANS - who served to keep us free Around the world you sacrificed - defending liberty Your uniforms were worn with pride - khaki, blue or white Representing the USA - believing in what's right
WE THANK YOU ALL OUR VETERANS - it's time to show we care In two world wars, Korea - Viet Nam, the Gulf..you were there We can't forget your courage - Iraq...Afghanistan Protection from our enemies - defense for Uncle Sam
America is proud of you - We know what you went through Men & women in uniform Serving the red, white & blue
WE THANK YOU ALL OUR VETERANS - from this democracy You defended freedom - from the threat of tyranny Some of you are gone now- to a resting place in heaven But..your spirit's still alive - as we remember 9/11

BRAZIL is where Phil Morrison performed frequently with the great vocalist/ pianist Freddy Cole! Phil’s affinity for Brazilian music and culture began as a result of seeing the Black Orpheus movie which features the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa. Here are some original songs influenced by his affection for Brazil!
HELO From IPANEMA is the girl who walked to Ipanema Beach in
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and inspired Antonio Carlos Jobim to compose the world-famous song "GIRL FROM IPANEMA".
Phil met Helo while touring in Brazil with The Freddy Cole Trio, and stayed in contact with her. Phil subsequently co-wrote this new song "Helo from Ipanema" for her with Keith Williams.
The tune follows some of the original chord progressions of "Girl from Ipanema" but also employs lots of new chord progressions.
Vocalist Maria Howell sings in English and
Laura Coyle sings in Portuguese.
Barry Greene is on Guitar and Phil Morrison is playing Bass...
Keith Williams sings with the Phil Morrison Trio featuring guest artist, world-class guitarist Barry Greene on guitar, Von Barlow on drums, and Phil Morrison on bass!
HELO From IPANEMA
words by Phil Morrison
Music by Keith Williams & Phil Morrison
This song I sing for Helo
And to see her it would be as a dream
She'd walk to the beach at Ipanema
Down in Rio - where life is love supreme
A cool breeze comes in from the ocean
So gently it blows to her hair
Her body is graceful in motion
Free as a bird that flies
Up in the sky without care
Vinicius wrote words for Helo
Tom Jobim gave those words a melody
The sun shines on Corcovado
It stands high majestically
Below was Helo Pinheiro
The tall tan girl
Who walked to the sea
Now when you go to Ipanema
You'll remember that song's famous girl
The sound of bossa nova
This song heard 'round the world
This song's famous girl

...it was humbling for Helo to mention Keith and me in her book "Helo Pinheiro"
